Shelties Rescued in Japan

After last month’s earthquakes and tsunami, Minami Soma was one of many Japanese cities that were evacuated amid fears of radiation leaks. Many residents had to flee quickly, leaving their pets behind. An Associated Press reporter was covering the devastation and photographed some of the abandoned pets, including a pack of shelties wandering the deserted streets. The story was picked up by the Japanese newspaper, Asahi Shimbun. Readers began calling the newspaper to find out how they could help.
