Canine Hero Accidentally Euthanised

A strange twist of fate has intersected the lives of a stray dog from Arizona with a canine hero from Afghanistan. It all started several months ago when three stray dogs in Afghanistan alerted American troops that a suicide bomber was trying to creep into their barracks. Five soldiers were injured and one of the dogs was killed, but a total of 50 people could have been killed that night if it weren’t for those dogs. Cats Pinpoint Lapping Technique Discovered

A biophysicist working at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts made a new discovery about cats while watching his own cat have a drink at home one morning. It was previously assumed that cats dip their tongues into the water and then curl it backwards to form a tiny ladle. This presumption was based on research by an earlier MIT professor, Harold Edgerton, who filmed a cat drinking milk back in 1940. Social Animals have Bigger Brains

A recent study from Oxford University discovered a parallel between the brain size of mammals who live in social groups compared to those who are not.The researchers studied the brains of several types of mammals from 60 million year old fossils all the way through to present day animals of the same lineage. They analysed data on the size of the brain in relation to the overall growth rate of their bodies to see if they could uncover any patterns.
